Pokemon X and Y have been officially announced by Nintendo. The Pokemon series has been a famous game among players of all ages. It has over 5 generations of Pokemon game which we all know most people have enjoyed playing. Pokemon X and Y is the first installment of the 6th generation of the game. It features a lot of brand new Pokemon including the starter Pokemon and the legendary ones. The Pokemon X and Y announcement was full of surprises. Nintendo shocked us all by announcing the first games of Generation VI and then they announced a global release date and even showcased the Starters, the first Pokemon to be revealed in the Pokemon X and Y Pokedex.

We don’t know anything about his moves as yet but we saw him destroy a Magikarp (not exactly hard). Bulbapedia initially reported that his name is a combination of chestnut and pin but it has also been suggested that its name may also be inspired by a species of chestnut called Chinkapin, spina (Latin for thorn) and Urchin (the Middle English term for hedgehog).

The Pokemon X and Y trailer shows Chespin firing off a Dark move as well as a Water type attack. Fennekin is the Fire Starter. It looks like a fox and, indeed, there is a type of fox found in the Sahara Desert called a Fennec which has large ears just like Fennekin. Fennekin may have been inspired by this. The trailer shows him launching what looks like a flamethrower attack but he also appears to use a Psychic move. Froakie is the Water Starter. This big-eyed frog can be seen launching two different attacks in the trailer – a Water attack plus a Fighting move – and its name is clearly a mix of frog and croak, the noise a frog makes.

In addition to the Starters, two new Legendary Pokemon were revealed in Pokemon X and Y, Xerneas and Yveltal. Along with these handsome portraits, the company revealed the heights and weights of both legendaries for some reason. Xerneas stands 9’10″ and weighs in at 474 pounds, while Yveltal is 19 feet tall and weighs 447.5 lb. Now imagine keeping both of those hooked to your belt. Getting excited more now? Nintendo has recently announced the release of “Pokemon X and Y” in October of this year, but it seems Nintendo wanted to change a few things about them this release for reasons we may never know.
